OVERVIEW

Soon after setting off on a pilgrimage to restore his communion with God, Simon Hogarth is abducted and used as a guinea pig for an experimental gene-therapy drug intended to enhance military personnel in combat. However, the untested drug vests Simon with powers of prophecy and healing reminiscent of biblical times. A biogenetic Jesus is born. Word spreads of his miraculous visions and acts of healing. "Apostles" flock to him. But troubles soon mount in the form of governments and organizations interested in exploiting him. Yet his greatest threat comes from one within his trusted circle, and Simon comes to realize that his only salvation may be in giving up his own life.
