THE
STYLE OF THE SHOW
Like
the Biker Chef's recipes, a refreshing pastiche
of message and medium resulting in something...
different. The pace of the show will be brisk
but not cartoonish, interwoven with the humor
will be clearly expressed cooking information
for the viewer. We'll do the research, finding
the genuine colorful places, people and foodstuffs
that will populate the Biker Chef universe.
We'll structure the episodes tightly, with
documentary style passages flowing smoothly
within a scripted framework. There will be
beautiful photography of different locations,
high-energy transitions and kitschy Americana
highlights. Expect the irreverent; when Biker
Chef relates an historical cooking tale we
might dissolve to a hyper-quick 'reenactment'
montage with the biker team in period dress,
for instance as pilgrims cooking the first
'Hot Potato.' Music will also be an eclectic
puree, region based but with mystical on-the-road
flavorings reminiscent of Morricone, Shankar
or Ahbez. Our mandate is that by combining
familiar elements in an offbeat way we'll
create a compelling cooking show that viewers
will find intriguing and comfortable at the
same time.
A
typical "Biker Chef' episode breaks down
as follows...
OPENING
INTRO: Brief montage based illustration
of how the Biker Chef discovered the Tome
of the Sated Traveler and was launched on
his quest. Theme Music. Also introduce Sous,
Max and Oracle as supporting characters.
PART
ONE: The team enters a new region and
consults the Tome for clues to the next Biker
Chef recipe. The search for key ingredients
begins.
PART
TWO: The team encounters the local Specialist
Cook who provides a key ingredient or cooking
technique the Biker Chef will incorporate
later. The team may also stop for lunch, they
may encounter a Celebrity Biker or the Chef
may consult the Oracle for assistance.
PART THREE: The search concludes and
the Biker Chef prepares his latest specialty
dish for the people they've met during the
course of the episode. Portions are distributed
and inspiration strikes as the Chef christens
his creation with a memorable moniker.
WRAP
UP: The dish is eaten, it's uniquely delicious.
The team roars away on their bikes. Voice-Over
haiku by the Oracle distilling the essence
of the episode's region, people, cuisine.
